The chemistry paper was full of goof-ups. Several could not complete their papers as they lost time over solving six erroneous questions.
- Question 63 in set A was wrong
- Question 61 saw the use of the word ‘serrun’ which is Latin for ‘iron’. Since the textbook never mentioned the word ‘serrun’, the question left students stumped
- Question 48 was based on a wrong methodology
- Question 41 has wrong options
- Question 58 was from the old course
- Question 70 had two variations of the correct answer
This left students confused as they could not figure out which one they should mark.
Class 12 Chemistry teacher Kuldeep Singh said, “It was a tough paper. There were also some goof-ups. One of the questions contained the Latin word ‘serrun’ which students were unaware of.”
Physics teacher Jaydip Joshi said, “The physics paper was a little tough. Twenty questions were easy. Average students could answer another 10-12 question based on formulae and logic. However, there were about eight questions which only bright students would have managed to answer. Theory was easy.”
Students said biology and maths were easy papers to answer. The results for Gujarat Common Entrance Test (GUJCET) will be announced on May 1.
