Mount Carmel College, Bangalore is the first women’s college in Karnataka to be started in 1948. Today, the college has a beautiful campus with many buildings and facilities. The courses have proliferated and every year the college receives an overwhelming number of applications from students all over the country. In fact, Mount Carmel College is home to over four thousand students. The college keeps pace with the changing times exploring new possibilities and expanding new horizons and continues to make a difference through its vision of empowering women through education.

The college envisions a life-oriented education that empowers the students through a humanizing and liberating process, to be agents of transformation and development at different levels of life. Enabled and empowered, they respond pro-actively to concerns and conflicts inherent in today’s reality, especially those of women and persons who are unable to exercise their freedom to be human, and work for the integrity of creation. The thrust is in the light of a ‘Civilization of Love’ – the Kingdom of God, as envisaged and promoted by the Founders, Mother Teresa of St. Rose of Lima.
