More students apply for re-totaling, re-valuation and copies of answer scripts in Tamil Nadu

The last date for schools to receive applications from candidates taking up instant special supplementary exams is May 13.

Meanwhile, 2,163 Plus two students had applied for photo copies of their answer papers in two days at the office of the Chief Educational Officer at Chennai. On Thursday, 678 applications were sold, according to official sources at Chennai.

The cost of application was Rs. 550 for language papers and Rs. 275 for other papers. In case of discrepancies in the total marks, the students could apply for re-totaling again by remitting Rs.305 for Biology, English and Language papers, and Rs.205 for other subjects. The fees for photo copies and re-totaling have to be paid as DD from nationalized banks in favour of Director of Government Examinations, Chennai-6, and payable in Chennai.

The option of securing photo copies and applying for re-totaling and re-valuation is being work out by increasing number of students aspiring for a better cut-off owing to the increasing competition in medical and engineering admissions. Ever since the professional entrance examination was abolished in the State of Tamil Nadu.

The marks the students score after re-totaling and re-valuation are factored in for determining the cut-off before the start of the counseling process. For admission to professional courses, the cut-off mark is determined based on the scores in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. If there is similarity in the total, the marks scored in language papers are taken into consideration. If the scores are still the same, the date of birth of the candidate is considered; those with age seniority are accorded priority. Random numbers are generated only after exercising all these options.
