University Grants Commission (UGC)-National Eligibility Test (NET)
People who have passion for teaching and who want to leave a memorable footprint as a successful teacher, this is the place for them to plunge knowledge and become a certified teacher by undertaking the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by National Educational Testing Bureau of University Grants Commission (UGC). This test is to determine Indian nationals for their eligibility in Lectureship and Award of Junior Research Fellowships in any Indian universities and colleges in order to ensure minimum standards for the entrants in teaching profession and research. UGC provides wide range of specializations under NET, subjects like Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Mathematical Sciences and Earth Atmospheric Ocean & Planetary Sciences etc. Candidates who have secured at least 55% in any Master’s Degree or equivalent examination from any institutions which is recognized by UGC, are eligible to take up NET. Candidates prepare for this exam twice a year during June and December and the results also are announced during the same year in October and April. Candidates who desire to pursue their Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) program for which UGC has allocated a number of specialization fellowships under various Universities for the candidates who qualify the test for JRF. Candidates who are interested in taking up NET, should directly register under UGC with their original mark sheets and certificates.
