3.02 lakh students will be appearing for the Maharashtra Health and Technology Common Entrance Test (MHT-CET)

3.02 lakh students will be appearing for the Maharashtra Health and Technology Common Entrance Test (MHT-CET) on Thursday. The exam would be conducted in 786 centres across the state. This could probably be the last year for a state-based entrance test for medical courses with the Centre deciding to conduct a common test across the country from the next academic year.

For the candidates, it is almost the last major test of the season. After the disordered All India Engineering Entrance Exam (AIEEE) this year, students are hoping for a simple and smooth state CET. students hope to secure a seat in one of the reputed institutes. There is a lot of nervousness this year with the AIEEE paper leak.

A total of 45,541candidates are appearing just for the health science courses, 1, 07,733 candidates are appearing only for the engineering courses while 1, 49, 410 are appearing for both the courses. Candidates are expected to reach their centres much in advance as it is a working day.

From Mumbai alone, 12,213 candidates are set to take the examination and 24,623 candidates have registered from the city’s suburbs. There are in all 79 centres in the Mumbai urban and suburban areas. Around 3,905 seats are up for grabs in the health science courses and 1, 14,268 seats are available in engineering colleges across the state.
